Ep 109 - We Bring The Heavy
Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 6:46PM In this episode, Stephen Hackett takes over hosting duties for Myke once again. Myke is on a humanitarian mission in western Uzbekistan to bring podcasting to it’s growing Romani population in the hopes it will spur a people’s revolution tentatively dubbed Gypsy Spring.
Today, I give the MPAA and all of those concerned about online piracy a bit of advice. You see, they think that people that pirate movies are doing so for free. This is simply not true. Nothing is free. In fact, what the pirates are spending is far more valuable than money. Trying to have a conversation about what to do about it from a mistaken premise is only going to result in things like SOPA and PIPA and other misguided legislation that won’t solve the problem.

I loved this episode. If I thought that US lawmakers would listen, I would forward it to them.
I did make a post about it on my Tumblr site: http://ripplesinapond.tumblr.com/post/17577598269/enough-we-bring-the-heavy
Thanks for the great show!
