Brad, I'm surprised you didn't take the Uni-Ball Vision Elites, as they are claimed to be airplane safe, and have a great liquid ink flow.
Btw, I travel with my fountain pens frequently and have not had any problems with leakage. I just put the pen case in the seat pocket (nibs up) during take off, until we've reached cruising altitude. They're usually full going out, but not coming back, and they've been fine.
